900 years ago, during what we know as the European Crusades, Earth and a magical Earth, Terra Magia, were completely sealed off from one another. Before the Earths were separated, magic and non-magic energies flowed freely between the two. But after being cut off from one another for so long, problems began to appear on both sides. Earth began experiencing more and more natural disasters. And for Terra Magia? The Screamers.

The Grand Mage says he wants to unseal the door allowing magic to flow once again between the worlds, saving both from possible ruination. To begin the unsealing process, he must magically transport three humans from Earth to Terra Magia. Finally, after hundreds of years of trying, the Mage is successful.
The Mage tells the newly transported humans from Earth they must find one another and then find him to save their worlds. When they eventually reach the Mage, they discover that he was not telling the truth. He does not want to open the magical pathway. Instead, he wants to close it completely, but doing so will destroy them all.

Earth is in a new ice age and many humans now live in huge complexes that have everything they may need, schools, groceries, restaurants. Some complexes are built next to each other making up neighborhoods of a city, but this story takes place in one remote complex. This town is built farther into the tundra than others. The closest town is 50 miles away, at least they thought.
When they receive a distress call from a complex they do not recognize, a group of guards decide to go investigate. There they find almost all of the inhabitants seem to have died of fear. As they look through the facility, they discover what looks like a government lab where the families of scientists lived as well. They search for any survivors and find three.
They take the survivors back to their complex and soon their own people start dying of fright. They soon realize all three survivors have special abilities and the youngest girl’s have gone out of her control.
